Hello, I’m Claire — the face behind The Wee Dog Company.
I run a one-to-one, small dog grooming salon from my home in Livingston, West Lothian, offering gentle, bespoke grooming and wellness services in a calm and nurturing environment.
Before retraining as a dog groomer, I spent over ten years working in administration and office management within the charity and education sectors. In 2020, after being made redundant during the pandemic, I finally took the leap to follow my long-held dream of working with dogs and creating a business built on care, kindness and trust.
I qualified as a dog groomer in late 2020 and opened The Wee Dog Company in May 2021.
Meet My Inspiration - Safi 🐾💚
The heart of The Wee Dog Company is my little Shih Tzu, Safi — my sidekick and constant inspiration.
Safi had a difficult grooming experience when she was younger, which understandably left her nervous and unsure. She was also born with hip dysplasia, meaning she finds it uncomfortable to stand for long periods and can feel overwhelmed in busy grooming environments, especially around larger dogs.
Grooming is an essential part of a dog’s wellbeing, and I firmly believe it should never be rushed or stressful. Safi showed me just how important patience, gentle handling and empathy really are — and that is what led me to create a salon specifically for small dogs who benefit from a quieter, more understanding approach.
About The Wee Dog Company
Knowledge, Training & Continued Learning
I am City & Guilds qualified, canine first aid trained and continually invest in further education to ensure I provide the highest standard of care.
My ongoing training includes skin and coat health, advanced grooming techniques and specialist study in grooming dogs who are blind or partially sighted. This continued learning allows me to adapt each groom to suit the individual needs of every dog in my care.
In 2024, The Wee Dog Company was proud to be awarded Best Pet Grooming Business at Scotland’s Business Awards.
Grooming with Care — for Dogs & the Planet
Caring for dogs also means caring about the world they live in.
I am proud to be West Lothian’s first Green Groomer Collective member, ensuring all pet hair is recycled, repurposed and never sent to landfill.
I use natural, handmade UK grooming products from Peanut & Pickle, chosen for their gentle, ethical and eco-friendly credentials.
A Calm, Kind Space for Wee Dogs
Every decision I make within my salon is guided by one simple question:
“Would this be right for Safi?”
If the answer is yes, it’s right for the dogs I groom too.
